Please note that running order has changed. JwS & SJ will run alternately in main arena from 70cm upwards starting with 70 JwS at 9a.m.

European Pony Eventing Success
Congratulations to Sam Ecroyd, the current National Schools Intermediate & Senior JwS Champion, who won team bronze and individual silver medals at the European Pony Eventing Championships in Poland recently.
Towerlands Closure
Towerlands Equestrian Centre closes at the end of August. A new venue for the dressage and JwS qualifiers will be announced shortly.

Membership Renewals
We shall be sending out membership renewal forms this week. Whilst annual memberships run from Sept 1st 2011 to Aug 31st 2012, we strongly recommend that anyone wishing to compete in schools competitions in September renews their membership from now on in order that they can enter competitions with the correct membership number on the form.

Organiser’s of Great Witchingham Horse Trials, who are hosting the Eastern Regions qualifier for the schools eventing championships report that the going on the XC course is super. The summer course, which runs on the water meadows, benefits from running on either side of a river and the going is as good as anywhere in the country. Entries have opened, so apply early to avoid disappointment.
Leading South East law firm Barlow Robbins is to sponsor this prestigious event at Addington Manor on October 22/23rd 2011. The firm hopes to help the NSEA in its’ mission to achieve recognition of equestrianism in schools nationwide.

Over 140 people turned out to at Merristwood to hear regional coach Mark Corbett give a talk about what to expect at B.E level. For the dismounted rally in your region, see B.E website.

Central Region – Ascott Under Wychwood will not be a schools qualifier due to a clash with a Pony Club area competition. Instead the autumn qualifier will be at Carlton & Dauntsey.

Due to the enormous number of entries, it has been decided to mover the 80cm qualifier to the Feb 27 Millfield Prep date alongside the 70cm qualifier.

British Eventing Safety and Fall Training Day Sunday 6th Feb
The training day will be interactive and will involve physical exercise and discussion. The subjects covered will include:
- Stretching, core stability and simulator work on the EQUICISOR (mechanical horse) with Carys Jackson and Jonathan Chapman
-Gym and EQUICHUTE (mechanical horse that throws the rider off) with Jon Pitts and Steve Smith-Eccles
-Nutrition and hydration and its influence on rider performance,with Julia Scott-Douglas
-Cross country technique, speed awareness, frangible fence design and fall statistics, with Yogi Breisner
It will be a very full day working with some of GB’s best coaches in their field. Spaces are limited to 32 people per day and will be allocated on a first come,first served basis. So, book early and don’t miss your opportunity to take the first step toward a more successful and safer 2011.
To take part in the day you just need to fill in the application form below this news item and return in as per the instructions on the form. Payment, £75 per person, by cheque or over the phone by credit/debit card.
